DIY: All Natural Moisturizer

Ever read the back of your beauty products and just cringe? I do. So instead of shelling out ungodly amounts of money to keep my 20 something face baby soft and youthful I decided to make my own. I have combo skin that errs on the dry side but I still am prone to pimples and what not. I love using coconut oil but sometimes I need something a little more. This DIY is great for deep moisturizing, balancing acne and softening skin. 01fa338af770a6aef69d5768bc1481ea1ea4a0abeaYou’ll need:

  • Cocoa Butter
  • Coconut Oil
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • A Jar/Container

Basically it’s a 1:1 ratio of coconut oil to cocoa butter with a few drops of tea tree oil. Carve out the cocoa butter and melt it in the microwave, then add the other ingredients. Depending on your climate you might have to melt the coconut oil too. Only add it last because cocoa butter has a much higher melting point that coconut oil and you don’t want to over heat it. Pop it into the fridge to set up. Feel free to play around with other essential oils to find what works best for your skin. You could put lavender, lemon or even rose. You could also add other oils like avocado, almond or jojoba.

Here it is frozen (oops). Since cocoa butter is very very solid at room temp it balances the coconut oil to create a nice lotion texture.
